Ustka gained administrative independence, and on 22 March 1935 received city rights. She had then just over 4,000 inhabitants.
In the second half of the nineteenth century from Słupsk-Ustka ran stagecoach, which lasted 1 hour drive. 45 min., and in 1878 the first railway line was launched.
